Kudos to the Copper Hill Cougars! 🐾
Copper Hill students recently participated in the “Cougars Across the Country” event, and the results were incredible! Together, the Cougars completed an amazing 12,100 laps around the blacktop — totaling 1,728 miles! That’s the distance from Copper Hill all the way to Denver, Colorado! At the start of each class, students were given 12 minutes to run. Any student who completed 7 or more laps earned a pawprint with their name displayed on our wall of achievement. Students who reached another 7 laps in a future class earned a sticker to add to their pawprint, celebrating their continued effort and dedication. We are so proud of the Cougars for their energy, perseverance, and school spirit!

Reading-Fleming Intermediate School welcomed students, families, and staff for a very successful Family Makers Night & Art Show. The event transformed the school into a vibrant showcase of creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning, featuring student artwork, STEM and technology projects, interactive “make and take” stations, robotics, digital design, stop-motion animation, pottery demonstrations, and more. Families explored student-created video games, 3D sculpture challenges, coding activities, and collaborative art experiences while celebrating the incredible talents of RFIS students. The evening highlighted the power of creativity, problem-solving, and community engagement, and provided a memorable opportunity for families to learn and create together. Spectacular and creative student artwork was also on display.

More Tiger Sports News -- Congratulations to the J.P. Case Boys Lacrosse Team! The team dominated the season, defeating William Annin Middle School to win the Central Jersey Junior Lacrosse League Championship for the second consecutive year. The Tigers were led by a talented group of 8th-grade student-athletes, including Jackson G., James M., Shane M., Quinn G., and Matt S., whose leadership, dedication, and hard work helped guide the team to back-to-back titles. J.P. Case finished the outstanding season with an impressive undefeated record of 11-0-1, showcasing exceptional teamwork, skill, and perseverance throughout the year. Congratulations to all of the players and coaches on a tremendous season and memorable championship run. Their dedication and sportsmanship have made the entire J.P. Case community proud. Roar on, Tigers!
Congratulations, J.P. Case Boys Varsity Baseball Champions! The J.P. Case Middle School Varsity Baseball Team capped off an incredible season by defeating Bridgewater, 8–1, to clinch the championship title! Aaron E. delivered a dominant performance on the mound for the Tigers, throwing 109 of the 110 allotted pitches in a tremendous outing. Offensively, Pat R., Anthon B., and Aaron E. sparked the Tigers’ attack with timely hits that created scoring opportunities and helped seal the victory. The championship win completed a perfect undefeated season for the Tigers, who finished with an outstanding 14–0 record. Congratulations to all of the players and coaches on a remarkable season and an unforgettable championship run!

RFIS Students Celebrate Culmination of Trout in the Classroom Program with Release into Raritan River
Under the supervision of Hunterdon County park rangers, approximately a dozen students, along with their parents and teacher Lisa Coster, released more than 70, 3–5 inch rainbow trout into the South Branch of the Raritan River South Branch at Sunnyside Park. The release marked the culminating activity of the Trout in the Classroom (TIC) program, an interdisciplinary, science-based conservation education initiative.
The program was supported by a grant from Sustainable Jersey and engaged 6th-graders from Reading-Fleming Intermediate School. Over the past seven months, students observed the development of approximately 250 rainbow trout hatched from the Pequest Trout Hatchery, while studying the importance of cold, clean water for aquatic ecosystems and human communities.
Throughout the program, students participated in a range of cross-curricular activities spanning science, mathematics, language arts, technology, art, music, and reading. Activities included conducting water chemistry tests, maintaining tank conditions, studying ecosystems and runoff, and corresponding with peer classrooms across the country through pen pal exchanges.
One trout, affectionately named “Pikachu” for its smaller size and distinctive tail shape, became a student favorite. Through pen pal correspondence, students also learned about another classroom fish known as “W,” noted for its unusual body shape, prompting discussions and hypotheses about environmental and developmental variation among fish.
Mrs. Coster emphasized the program’s educational impact, stating: “Our hope is that by caring for and learning from the trout, our students will gain yet another hands-on learning experience to make them better environmentally conscious stewards.”
Student artwork also played a prominent role in the program. Student Inde Yan Jr. contributed original illustrations depicting the trout and classroom experiences. Yan, who immigrated from the Philippines in 2024, shared that art has long been central to his life and learning journey. His work was later enlarged into posters and displayed at both the school’s Earth Day celebration and the Raritan Township Green Fair earlier this spring.
The TIC program experience has inspired plans for continued student engagement, including the development of a digital book compiling selected pen pal correspondence and student artwork as a commemorative record of the inaugural program. The Trout in the Classroom initiative is expected to continue next school year.

On May 15th, the J.P. Case Middle School select music ensembles went to Music in the Parks where they competed under the direction of Heather Faherty, Nora Boccuti, Jon Logan and Rose Nagy. Chorale, Jazz Band, Studio Orchestra and Tigerettes all came in 1st place in their categories and Jazz Band won best Middle School Jazz ensemble and Tigerettes won best Middle School vocal ensemble. Also, Sai Tanish Patange won the Outstanding Soloist award for Jazz. Bravo, Tigers!
