A Living History: 8th Graders Inspired by Holocaust Survivor Tova Friedman

The 8th-grade class at JP Case Middle School had the profound honor of meeting and hearing from Tova Friedman, one of the youngest survivors of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.

In a powerful and moving assembly, Mrs. Friedman shared her personal experiences, offering our students a rare opportunity to engage with history through a lens of resilience and hope. Our 8th graders rose to the occasion, reflecting the gravity of the topic with exceptional maturity, empathy, and respect.

This transformative learning experience was made possible by the generous support of the JP Case PTO. We also want to thank PTO member Courtney Angiuli for providing essential historical context through classroom presentations and resources leading up to the visit.

By listening to these stories, our students aren't just learning history—they are becoming witnesses to it, ensuring that the lessons of the past are never forgotten.

Hip, Hip, Hooray for Hunterdon County Unsung Hero Jack Helias -- J.P. Case Middle School 8th-Grader Jack Helias was recognized at a ceremony on March 4 where he received an Unsung Hero Award. The Unsung Hero Award is given out annually by the Hunterdon County School Boards Association in coordination with the New Jersey School Boards Association. The award recognizes students who make outstanding contributions to their schools and communities, even though they are often overlooked under traditional student recognition guidelines. Unsung Heroes are students who make their school a better place because of their warm personalities, empathy, and concern for others. We are so proud of Jack for the example he sets for his peers and the contributions he makes to J.P. Case Middle School. As a proud Tiger, we heard Jack roar!
