Congratulations to our JP Case delegates!

Twelve JP Case students were among the twenty-eight Hunterdon County participants who took part in this year’s Middle School Model United Nations Conference — an impressive international learning experience spanning five states.

The Middle School Model United Nations Conference brings together more than 200 young delegates from across New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Students are each assigned a country and spend weeks diving into research to understand their nation’s position on two major global issues. This year’s topics were Natural Disaster Relief and Transnational Crime, sparking spirited debate and creative diplomacy.

Throughout the process, students hone invaluable skills in public speaking, negotiation, resolution writing, and global collaboration. Their work culminates in a three-day conference at the iconic Hotel Hershey, where delegates debate, collaborate, and strive to build consensus.

Kudos to all our local delegates — and especially our JP Case students — for representing our community with curiosity, confidence, and global awareness!

WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 2025 GOVERNOR'S EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR!

The 2025 Educator of the Year: Mrs. Gretchen Biederman, Special Education Teacher

The 2025 Educational Services Professional of the Year: Ms. Colette Baills, School Counselor

Both honorees rose to the top through a combination of impactful work, meaningful relationships, and the strong support expressed throughout the submissions of students, parents, and staff members.

This year, the inclusion of student voices made an immeasurable difference. We received 237 responses —a remarkable level of engagement! Students took the time to have their voices heard—and their voices were loud and clear. They value our staff and are grateful for the many ways they make a difference in their lives.

The State's process requires that the scores be carefully tallied based on the numerical ratings each committee member assigned to the various nominations. Each member’s evaluations were compiled and averaged to determine the final scores, ensuring that the selection process was fair, transparent, and reflected the collective input of the committee.

Nominations in support of Gretchen's candidacy painted a portrait of a teacher who has spent more than two decades shaping a truly exceptional program. Her Life Skills and Community-Based Instruction classroom is a warm, structured, and deeply compassionate learning environment that feels more like a home than a classroom. The committee noted her unwavering commitment to ensuring her students develop independence through authentic experiences—whether they are running the Tiger Treats Café, participating in monthly “Out on the Town” trips, or building friendships with peers through the Tiger Tribe program. These opportunities reflect Gretchen’s belief that every student deserves to be fully included in the school and wider community, and she works tirelessly to make that vision a reality. Her dedication extends far beyond instruction; she is known to quietly purchase clothing, hygiene items, and furnishings so her students have what they need to learn with comfort and dignity. Her positive energy, advocacy, and genuine love for her “family” of students were woven through every nomination and clearly resonated with the committee.

In a different but equally meaningful way, Colette’s impact came through powerfully in her nominations. The nominations consistently described Colette as a trusted, steady presence—someone who listens without judgment, helps students navigate challenging moments, and always finds time for a child in need, even on the busiest of days. Students described leaving her office feeling lighter, happier, and more grounded, thanks to her encouragement and calm approach. Her ability to mediate conflict, restore relationships, and help students feel safe and understood has made her an anchor of support for students throughout the building. Colette’s warmth, compassion, and genuine belief in the students she serves shine through in every interaction, and her influence on students is unmistakable.

CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU FOR BEING AMAZING EDUCATORS!
