PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
PHILOSOPHYr activities utilize cooperative learning, skill work, social interaction, effective communication, and self image throughout the year. It is our objective to incorporate and reinforce your child in their skilled activities and further enhance their abilities in their less successful areas. We aspire to develop healthy, happy, and physically MEDICAL EXCUSES:
To allow your child the maximum opportunities for development and fun we need your help. When your child feels ill, is slightly injured, etc., please send us a note to ask we let them do the best they can. This allows the individual student to continue to have fun and interact with his/her friends while further reinforcing the importance of the activity. We ALWAYS have your child sit down when they feel they have done all they can.
When a note states No Phys. Ed. then your child misses out on the entire class, rather than a small part. Please encourage your child to participate in whatever way they are able to!! Maybe they can still stretch with us, or walk during our fitness unit. We simply do not want them to be excluded if there is something they can be involved with during class. Due to the longevity of each block we feel that it would be in the best interest of your child to participate to their capability. We are here for your child! If you have a concern or question please do not hesitate to call us here at the middle school.
VALUABLES:
We ask that students leave their money and valuables at home. Unfortunately, at times, items are removed from the locker room and we are unable to locate them again. If the student does have money/valuables in school it is imperative that they ask one of the phys. ed. teachers to lock their items in the locker room office.
* In the event that valuables/books/clothing are misplaced there is a lost & found in each of the locker rooms and in the 100's located in between the lavatories.
DAILY CLASSROOM PROCEDURE:
The current schedule allows for 78 minutes per block, the following is a breakdown of one Phys. Ed. block:
* Changing - 5 minutes in the beginning of class, 5 minutes at the end of class
* Attendance / warm-up / stretching - 18 minutes
* Activity - 25 minutes (Current sport that the student is participating in)
* Fitness - 25 minutes
